The experimental phase (1833-45) is represented by selections from Pauline (1833), Paracelsus (1835), Sordello (1840), Dramatic Lyrics (1842), and Dramatic Romances and Lyrics (1845), as well as by the complete text of Pippa Passes; the major phase (1855-69) by selections from Men and Women (1855), Dramatis Personae (1864), and The Ring and the Book (1868–69), of which Books V, VI, and X are reprinted; and the later achievement (after 1870) by selections from Fifine at the Fair (1872), Aristophanes’ Apology (1875), Pacchiarotto and How He Worked in Distemper: With Other Poems (1876), Jocoseria (1883), Parleyings with Certain People of Importance in Their Day (1887), and
