The LNCS series reports state-of-the-art results in computer science research, development, and education, at a high level and in both printed and electronic form. Enjoying tight cooperation with the R&D community, with numerous individuals, as well as with prestigious organizations and societies, LNCS has grown into the most comprehensive computer science resarch forum available.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Electronic Government, EGOV 2006, held in Krakow, Poland in September 2006 in conjunction with DEXA 2006.
The 31 revised papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions for inclusion in the book. Depicting the state of the art in e-government/ e-governance they provide guidance for the community of e-government practitioners and researchers and the global digital / e-government societies that are forming at the present time.
