媒体评论
“Lincoln is endlessly chronicled because he is, like thenation he saved, endlessly fascinating. Ronald C. White has writtena splendid, sprawling biography of a man we can never know too muchabout.” —Jon Meacham, author of American Lion and Franklin andWinston

“Ronald C. White, an acknowledged expert on the speeches ofAbraham Lincoln, has now taken in hand a full-length biography. Tothis task he brings the careful reading, patient attention tocontext, and special sensitivity to complex questions aboutLincoln's religion that characterized his earlier books. The resultis a first-rate study that will probably be THE biography of theLincoln Bicentennial Year.”—Mark A. Noll, Francis A. McAnaneyProfessor of History, University of Notre Dame
